GST/HST returns and new business setup

Register, file and remit GST/HST correctly — and start your business or corporation on the right footing.

GST/HST

Once your taxable revenue passes the $30,000 small-supplier threshold, you generally must register for GST/HST. We handle registration, prepare and file your returns, and help you claim the input tax credits you are entitled to.

  • GST/HST registration and filing-frequency elections
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual returns
  • Quick method and input tax credit review
  • GST/HST on new housing and rental property rebates
  • CRA GST/HST reviews and correspondence

Starting or incorporating a business

Should you incorporate? It depends on your income, how much you need to take out personally and your plans. We walk you through the trade-offs and, if incorporating makes sense, help set up the corporation’s tax accounts, year-end and payroll.

  • Sole proprietorship vs. corporation analysis
  • Ontario incorporation coordination and business number setup
  • CRA program accounts: GST/HST, payroll and corporate income tax
  • Choosing a fiscal year-end and setting up bookkeeping
Questions

GST/HST & Incorporation: common questions

When do I have to register for GST/HST?

Generally, when your taxable supplies exceed $30,000 in a single calendar quarter or over four consecutive calendar quarters. Taxi and rideshare drivers must register regardless of revenue.

Should I incorporate my business?

Incorporation can defer tax and offer liability protection, but it adds cost and compliance. We review your numbers and goals before recommending it.

Can you file my overdue HST returns?

Yes. We can prepare and file overdue returns and help you deal with any penalties and interest.
